We just need to keep the faith.

As for finding a new spiritual home, I hope you find what you're looking for. In the meantime, however, I invite you to try Relevant Church's broadcast online. I love our church and the feeling I get in being a member and attending regularly.

Visit http://www.relevantchurch.com/ and go to the 'Watch Live' tab on the right. Services are at 10:00 and 11:30 on Sundays.danaCreativehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07808232310564681729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6734674956131202696.post-62181119040438214982011-02-24T16:57:59.133-05:002011-02-24T16:57:59.133-05:00Lindsey,
I am a firm believer in the saying that ...Lindsey,

I am a firm believer in the saying that God never answers us with 'No'. Instead, He answers us with 'Not right now'. In the case of your friend Melanie, it was not yet her time to be taken to Heaven (and hopefully it will not be for a very, very long time).

What I do find utterly frustrating about God is how He is the cleverest of clever and the master riddler of all creation. We as humans ask for something specific and concrete, and He instead tells us to do something mundane or routine. "Go make coffee" or "Go for a run" or "Don't forget to take out the trash". Our minds our too feeble to understand and, like the children we are - His children, we resist and fight back and throw a tantrum and pout. Yet, when we finally DO listen, His plan is revealed to us and we realize something magical, something miraculous. We call it serendipity or fate, but what it really is God's clever and sometime snarky way of telling us, "See? I told you so." That's what makes Him so awesome.danaCreativehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07808232310564681729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6734674956131202696.post-10767739429796059232011-02-24T16:46:52.110-05:002011-02-24T16:46:52.110-05:00Linds,
On the surface, it does seem quite odd to ...Linds,

On the surface, it does seem quite odd to see a person of the cloth enveloped in the comforts of a luxury automobile, but this may be a matter of judging a book by its cover.

The true testament to faith and living a Christ-like life is one's actions. As you wrote, it's possible this pastor has lots of disposable income as a result of a now empty nest. Perhaps he's been a shrewd investor over the years. Perhaps a deceased member of the congregation left him the vehicle as part of his will. Yet perhaps this pastor also gives generously of his income back to the church, and perhaps he works many more hours than most people see with the homeless and spiritually lost.

There are so many 'acceptable' possibilities for that specific situation, and we need to remind ourselves that perception is not always reality.

If you don't feel at home in a particular church, then you definitely should seek out a new place of worship, but be sure you're doing so because you're looking for a community of people with whom you can connect and grow spiritually and not simply because the head of that community has too nice a ride.danaCreativehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07808232310564681729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6734674956131202696.post-53084496658360541472011-02-24T11:30:24.034-05:002011-02-24T11:30:24.034-05:00Thanks guys!
